duck to water

After being one of few (or the only) for an extended time, I went on strike as a planner/organizer of big trips.  But for next vacation, when a favored travel co's arrangements were unsatisfactory in various aspects, I went mildly bananas & feverishly put all the pieces together myself.  It took a long time, but it felt good, we are getting exactly what we want in every aspect, and we are SAVING a ton of money... an unexpected benefit...had resigned selves to paying at least a bit more due to loss of travel co's presumed economies of scale.
