Also this, in which he appears to be giving an interview to some terrified French kids, film students perhaps. Only watched a few seconds so far but he comes off quite humble and a little self-conscious. Not winsome at all.

I should get into casting. I called this in early 2002 (and I think this is only the beginning; Oscars in more than one field; GC laughed too but then look what happened) in front of a tv in Stowe, squealing at him in between peppering Burgle and B. with what must have been very irritating questions of the "ok now who's THAT? Is he a good guy or bad guy? Wait, who's that other guy again?" variety. It's so funny to me though that people keep saying (men, derisively) that he's sooo good-looking. I actually don't think he is, if you take his face apart, not classically, aside from the otherworldly eyes. (And he's so unphotogenic - for some reason still photos are even less his friend than video - they seem to exaggerate the 'classical' 'flaws'. Vastly more...prepossessing in person, though maybe context deceived.) It's more the whole package, mostly the voice and hair, and he expertly knows what to do with what he's got (hair, scruff, clothes). (Why do men think it's such a bad thing and get so annoyed when another of theirs is called out as good-looking, btw? :/ Hello, and welcome to every day of women's lives. A great way to wreck the spell of whimsy that Midnight in Paris puts you under, is to then see Hangover 2. They're too good for the material and you can tell they know it. Poorly paced, and the music choices, especially toward the beginning of the movie, were such a moodkiller - before it started you could feel everyone's happy anticipation, but then, thanks to the super-bummer music over the opening credits, you could almost hear the air hissing sadly out of the balloon of our collective enthusiasm. The script is your annoying acquaintance who always gets drunk and does "outrageous" things with studied "shocking" "spontaneity" and keeps looking expectantly at you for an omg no wai reaction and, not getting one, poking you in the ribs and going "eh? EH?" and there's nothing duller than that. I did giggle a few times, but not even Cooper's blasting hotness could save this one.

See, it's not just me- he could and did carry the movie. Loved his Inside the Actors Studio too: if his tearing up was an act, it was so convincing that I don't even care - just as moved by his acting ability alone, then.

Just looking at this ad makes me laugh. His sudden "WTF IS GOING ON?!!" in #1 is as hard as I've ever laughed in a movie.
"That? Is a recipe, for a ghost". "That doesn't sound right." "I live to frolf." "TUNA!!!" "Ever heard of it?" And to think I hated him (his char) at first sight.

Well finally saw Limitless.  It wasn't very good, but not sorry I saw it.

Onion puts it well: "It's a small victory for flash in its eternal war with substance, but in this case, the flash is enough."  If just barely; in my estimation the aquamarine flash of his hopped-up eyes in particular was a necessary tipping factor.  I am 12.

It's almost invariably a bit of a letdown to discover the tastes of some categories of people I otherwise admire. (will never forget T. calling Bad Boys II a "great" movie when I demanded explanation of his at-bat song... so depressing.) OK so just one category. Such a snob. Well, I know I have watched Wedding Crashers an embarrassing number of times (viz., have lost count), but that is excusable to myself due to (1) Owen Wilson (2) Isla Fisher - ridiculous, unbelievable, made me want to be redheaded even more than I always and continually have (3) Bradley Cooper (his terrible personality [both the character and, so they say, the actor, as human being] not contributing to, but atypically failing to diminish, his appeal to me, as is the case with [besides him] only A-Rod) (do I talk about Bradley Cooper with abnormal frequency? It's possible) (4) Vince Vaughn.

which makes me wonder once again why I tolerate and even love "bang the same drum over and over" from some people (Owen, Vince, Drew Barrymore, Cera) but despise it in others.

"Did you know that some actors turn DOWN roles?" I find ZG deeply unfunny most of the time, but the Between Two Fernses are pretty great. The Bradley Cooper one still by far my favorite, though I am biased. Might never have thanked burgle for making me watch Alias. Thanks burgle!!

A new "Ferns"! Not the best one (Bradley Cooper's is still my favorite by far), but what do I know, when as good an actor as Sean Penn repeatedly comes this close to losing it (and much more so than any other of Zach's guests)...
