If you want to feel gutted like a fish, read A FINE BALANCE by Rohinton Mistry. It is the negative film of THE BROTHERS K, my all-time favorite novel. I cannot get it out of my head, which is actually not a great thing. Strange recommendation, I know. Just read it.
