Things I want iPad to do (or if, as is likely, it already does these things, I need to learn how to do)

- recognize email addresses as such when I hover over/tap on them, and automatically select them in their entirety for quick copy/pasting
- override sites' preferences for giving me the mobile versions of themselves (yeah i know this is not iPad's fault or under its control, but it should be)
- related: i wish I could hover over the URL bar and it would give me a floaty button to tweet-this or blog-this
- when I tap on text: - cursor, be willing to land in the middle of a word
- let me close (not just tuck away, CLOSE) an app *from within* said app (without having to double tap the home button and do the press/wiggle/minus-sign thing)
- sometimes screen says "BACK" upon some signal I assume i am unwittingly giving, and goes back a page. Mysterious

The list is sure to grow, but does not diminish my besottedness. The battery power alone inspires poetry.

I may be imagining it but I *think* the keyboard is configured differently depending on what sort of text I'm entering - eg, I think that if it's a web form and the text box is asking for an email address, keyboard somehow knows that and gives me the "@" sign on the "main" keyboard screen rather than making me have to hit the "123" "alternate" keyboard. I haven't figured out whether that's scary smart and useful, or Microsoftily more a hindrance (due to inconsistency) than a help.

Have been watching back episodes of "the event". Is not terrible. Roger Bart! Laura Innes is SO GOOD.
