Hahahaha!  of all people, Judd Apatow:
It’s ridiculous that women have to see 8 million male-driven films, and no one ever says, “Will women come to see these five guys hijack a plane?” They just assume they’ll come because they have no other options. This conversation never happens in the reverse.
I have been banging on about this for years...the "every girl is expected to (and does) see The Lion King, but no boy is willing/allowed/taken to see The Little Mermaid" thing. Not that Disney is any paragon of morality or social responsibility, but just as an example.

I liked the movie, especially Wiig's acting and the on-the-whole very natural/realistic/believable exploration of female friendship which is so sadly uncommonly seen (I'M LOOKING AT YOU S&TC).  In my theater there were nearly as many men as women and quite a few there alone or in groups, ie, not "dragged there by women", which was heartening.
