True Grit: oh, my. Stories within stories, staggering cinematography, splendid oneliners, and everyone acting out of their blessed minds, especially Bridges. Him or Firth? I give Firth the edge because arguably Bridges' role was easier to do a good job with. IMO easily the best storytelling I've seen this year.
"I am a foolish old man who has been drawn into a wild goose chase by a harpy in trousers and a nincompoop."
"Why have you been ineffectually pursuing Chaney?"
"...you have been eluded the winter long by a halfwit."
"That did not pan out."
