The funny thing is - little does she know that this particular type of rudeness is much more common than she probably thinks... amirite burgle? (please just let me look at the @#%^* jewelry) If I do anything short of immediately participating in their dogged Exotic Otherification of me, *I* am the rude, snobbish, unsociable one. Yup. Win-win: get treated like a zoo animal AND abused for demurring (however politely).
