I wish I were planning to watch the World Cup so that I could now NOT watch it in protest against the Thomas Paine-quoting ad currently in heavy rotation. Comparing soccer to THE EFFING AMERICAN REVOLUTION, or any war? Trivializing patriotism and the literal sacrifice of life which is still going on, the eternal human epidemic, constantly, all over the world? They've *GOT* to be kidding. That profoundly offends me. I am disgusted and outraged.
